The Stars Around — Our Story
There's something quietly powerful about the night sky. Those same stars have been overhead for centuries, and within our short lifetime we only catch a glimpse of their story. No matter where you are, no matter how far apart, you and the people you love are looking up at the same sky. That idea has always stayed with us — and it's what The Stars Around was built around.
We started in 2018 with a simple idea: take a specific night, a specific place, the exact sky overhead, and turn it into something you can hold in your hands and hang on a wall. Not decorative clip art — the real sky, calculated from professional astronomical catalogs and rendered as it actually appeared from your spot on Earth that night. Seven years later, we've made over 6,000 of these for people around the world, and every single one still feels personal.
Our passion for the night sky is what makes every star map matter. When you spend years watching the universe through a telescope, you stop seeing the sky as background — and start seeing it as something worth holding onto.
We're a small studio outside Chicago — just two people who care about every order. I (Olga) oversee fulfillment, packing, and customer support, and answer every message myself. My husband Greg built the software that makes the maps possible and keeps it all running behind the scenes. No corporate call center, no automated assembly line — every order is checked, every detail considered, every poster shipped with care. When you email us, you're talking to one of us.
Every poster that leaves our studio carries a night that mattered to someone. A wedding, a birth, a first date, a moment worth remembering. We don't take that lightly. If the sky meant something to you, we want to do it justice.
